Presentation of the book Oikeiôsis by Mara Palena — Witty Books
06/12/2023
We are delighted to host the presentation of Oikeiôsis by Mara Palena, published by Witty Books. This isn’t your typical presentation, but a convivial moment with screenings, conversation, and drinks to explore Mara Palena’s artistic practice and the work she has created with Witty Books.
“This infinite body of photographic works is the very body of the author, whose cells are the poetic intuitions that have marked the passage of time. A body that gives itself to the collective, welcoming the viewer into a large shared mnemonic archive, where each image generates a sense of empathy in the experience.”

Witty Books
An independent publishing house that aims to promote contemporary photography and the visual arts. Founded in 2012 under the name Witty Kiwi by Tommaso Parrillo, we focus on publishing books as objects and spaces for research, working closely with artists and designers. We strongly believe in the dialogue between the different arts, which is why we launched the Ear/Eye project. Furthermore, the Witty Books project goes beyond publishing books; we also focus on their visual creation. Discover our educational activities.
Mara Palena
Mara Palena (1988) lives and works in Milan. Her research focuses on themes such as memory, remembrance, and identity. The artist's aesthetic, influenced by the fashion industry where she worked for several years, combines with an intimate and poetic vision. Using photography, video, and sound, her work aims to engage the viewer in immersive experiences. By reworking archival material, she seeks a link between the personal and the collective, between introspection and connection. Her work has been exhibited at several international festivals and galleries and has been a finalist for numerous awards, including the Combat Prize, the Fabbri Prize, and New Post Photography. In 2022, she was nominated by Giangavino Pazzola and Camera Torino for FUTURES Photography.
