Recontemporary Prize 2025

Recontemporary launched the second edition of the Recontemporary Prize with the aim of building, through the support of an international jury and special mentions, a network of collaborations and exchanges that will allow the selected artists to amplify the resonance of their work and get closer to the contemporary art system (open call from 05/03/2025 to 07/04/2025, cost 25€).
Each application will be evaluated individually, and each candidate will receive feedback along with a list of other competitions/open calls/opportunities to participate in, should they be rejected. With the artists’ consent, Recontemporary reserves the right to keep the artists’ portfolios in its database for future opportunities or potential collaborations.
Winner Recontemporary Prize 2025: ✨ Sara Levarato ✨
The Recontemporary Prize has a total value of 3200€, divided as follows:
• The organization of a solo exhibition at Recontemporary in Via Gaudenzio Ferrari 12/b in Turin in June 2025 (the date may be subject to change).
• A prize worth 1000 euros to support the acquisition of a work from the exhibition, which will become part of Recontemporary’s video collection.
• A fee of 200 euros for the artist to support the planning of the exhibition, to be provided starting from the established opening day.
• A budget of 500 euros to cover travel and setup costs.
• A one-year mentoring program organized by Recontemporary, designed to support the career development of the winning artist with a contribution of 1500 euros. The financial support will be provided by Recontemporary throughout the year, as part of the professional consultancy program, and is aimed at participation in international fairs, exhibition openings, projects, or festivals, with the goal of facilitating the artist’s entry into the contemporary art market. During the year, the winning artist will have the opportunity to meet with at least two members of the jury for an introductory meeting. Additionally, a lecture will be organized at IAAD in Turin, in collaboration with Lucrezia Nardi, a university professor.

How it works?

The call is open to individuals or collectives whose practice focuses on moving images, video, and new media, regardless of nationality, age, gender, or background. Applicants must not have previously exhibited their works in a solo exhibition within an artistic institution, such as foundations, museums, independent spaces, festivals, fairs, etc.
As a participation requirement, the artist must not have a solo exhibition scheduled in the current year at the time of applying for the Prize. If an exhibition is scheduled, it must take place after the dates set for the exhibition hosted by Recontemporary. Failure to meet this requirement will result in disqualification from the Prize.
