This workshop, curated by Federica Sorba and Eduard Tampu of Nova Media Studio, provides participants with an overview of video-mapping and visual design, combining theory and practice to develop technical and creative skills in the field. An opportunity to delve into the methodologies and tools needed to create impactful visual installations.
Activities

Day 1 - December 6 (10am - 5pm)
· Introduction to the topic and the main video-mapping techniques: presentation of project examples and case studies
· Understanding hardware and software in video-mapping
· How to approach an event and application contexts: from installation, to DJSet to AV performance
· Unreal Windows activity: projection on flat material, on Touchdesigner
· Networking aperitif -
Day 2 - December 7 (10am - 5pm)
· Content creation: introduction to Touchdesigner, interface, basic nodes
· Let's start creating generative visuals on Touchdesigner: particle system
· Introduction to 3d mapping
· Magic Policubes activity: 3d mapping on complex surfaces, with implementation of the visual contents made in the morning

Day 3 - December 8 (10am - 5pm)
· Introduction to 3D scanning techniques
· How to create generative visual content on Touchdesigner: visual effects and other generative visuals
· Living Things activity: projection on complex objects with implementation of the visual content made in the morning
· Presentation of past projects and case studies

PRE-REQUIREMENTS
Minimum knowledge of the visuals environment, specifically a basic knowledge of Touchdesigner will be very helpful. It is essential that each participant has their own laptop (Mac or Windows). If you wish and have the availability, you can bring your own midi controller, and if you have a small projector. Software: Touchdesigner and Resolume Arena (available for free in demo version) must be installed. We ask each participant to arrive with a small selection of video material (their own or from the web). They will be part of the proposed practical activities.

Nova Media Studio
Nova Media Studio is a multidisciplinary duo born in 2024 from the collaboration between Federica and Eduard. Through the multimedia combination of audio and video, their goal is to create immersive experiences in different contexts, from real-time performance to AV installation. Born from the exploration of the sound dimension through the visual one, the goal goes far beyond the simple union of these two mediums, researching the use of space as a keystone in the non-linear narrative that characterizes their works. Through the experimentation of project-mapping, they have sought a mediation of the visual content through the architectural space, proposing a narrative different from the extraneousness of the screen. In this way, they have enhanced the intrinsic nature of the space, increasing its static nature and identity.
Nova Media has collaborated with various cultural entities in northern Italy: Fabrique Milano, GAM Torino, Club Silencio, Recontemporary, Reggia di Venaria, OGR, Seminaria Sogni in Terra, Castello di Barolo.
