NETTUNO: BIRTH OF A SHELL
An intimate narration, a simulation that starts from reality to arrive at an imaginary described by his gaze, by his thoughts. Architectures of memory and traces of life constitute a scenario that gives marginalized creatures new perspectives.
Emma Scarafiotti
Emma Scarafiotti is a mixed media artist, working in video art, photography and performance.
Initially a photographer and performer, she then found her most complete form of expression in audiovisual art.
After graduating with honors in Design & Art Direction at the London College of Communication, she then obtained a Master in “New Technologies for the Visual Arts”.
In her work, she studies and investigates the potential of an emerging body and the intersections between species. How human traditions and ritual activities intertwine with speculative and futuristic narratives. She is interested in creating stories that layer a documentary scientific approach with a more fictional theatrical narrative, often marrying analog tools with new technologies.
Her subjects are mainly “outsiders”, disenchanted individuals who belong to the margins of society.
Her works have been exhibited at Careof Milano, REA Fair, Museo ENNOVA (Langfang, China), Recontemporary (Turin). Some of his short films have been selected for national and international experimental video festivals, such as PANORAMICA23 (visual container), Thunderdance film festival UK, Cinedans, Amsterdam (2018), Ortigia Film Festival (2022) and Toronto Experimental Dance and Music Festival (2022).
