Open Call for Curators X Premio Rec 2026

From 29/01/2026 to 25/02/2026

Recontemporary is seeking 6 curators interested in taking part in an intensive digital curatorial workshop.

The workshop is conceived as a hands-on training experience, enabling the selected curators to:
• actively participate in the pre-selection process of applications for the Recontemporary Prize;
• collaborate in the curatorial development of the project;
• curate the text of an artist awarded a special mention.

The special mentions take the form of distributed projects, developed and selected in collaboration with institutions and partners of different kinds (cultural spaces, institutions, independent organizations).

During the three days of the workshop, the curators will be supported by the Recontemporary team throughout all phases of the project.

The 18-hour program includes:

• a series of practical exercises and moments of discussion aimed at developing new curatorial perspectives, experimenting with exhibition solutions for digital art, and reflecting on the specificities of curating in online and hybrid environments;
• the development of critical tools for project evaluation, portfolio analysis, and the definition of shared curatorial criteria;
• a focus on curatorial writing, with practical exercises dedicated to developing one’s own critical voice through the drafting of a curatorial text that will form the basis of the final text for the special mention;
• meetings with two guest curators, dedicated to dialogue around curatorial practices and practical professional advice.

WHO CAN APPLY
Curators active in the field of contemporary art and related disciplines, at different stages of their practice, who demonstrate a strong sensitivity to the curation of digital arts and to working with emerging artists.
