Boing Boom Tschack
From 31/10/2025 to 02/11/2025
On the occasion of Artissima 2025, Associazione Barriera, Fondazione Recontemporary ETS and Studio Nucleo present in Turin a widespread and shared itinerary, articulated in three exhibition projects that explore, from different perspectives, the themes of war, identity and collective memory.
The three exhibitions — Stories we carry, You Shouldn’t Have To See This and In the Name of God — create a silent yet intense dialogue between visual languages, places and narratives, offering a portrait of our complex present.
Three independent yet interconnected chapters, united by the same urgency: to reflect, through art, on the forms that war, faith and memory take in the present.
The group exhibition Stories we carry, hosted by Associazione Barriera in collaboration with eastcontemporary and curated by Sergey Kantsedal and Agnieszka Faferek, brings together artists from different generations and backgrounds — Andrius Arutiunian, Nikita Kadan, Aziza Kadyri, Mila Panić, Ala Savashevich, Slavs and Tatars and Anastasia Sosunova — to explore how individual and collective stories are passed down, fragmented and transformed over time. Through installations, sculptures and multimedia works, the exhibition investigates the role of narrative in shaping identity and memory, interweaving folklore, language and the politics of representation.
At Fondazione Recontemporary ETS, You Shouldn’t Have To See This by Yarema Malashchuk and Roman Khimei stages the collective trauma of war through a powerful video installation. The images of Ukrainian children kidnapped and deported to Russia, enveloped in suspended silence, evoke the fragility of innocence and question the viewer’s gaze: what does it mean to witness horror today, when war manifests itself also on screens and within the aesthetics of everyday life?
Finally, with In the Name of God, a site-specific installation by Piergiorgio Rubino for Studio Nucleo, the reflection moves to the cultural center Ramo d’Oro. Installed in the historic Galleria Umberto I, a place that remained closed for decades and has been reopened as a space of suspension and memory, two missiles intersecting to form a cross become a metaphor for violence justified in the name of faith, but also a symbol of collective responsibility in the face of the normalization of conflict.
The program will open on Friday, October 31, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fondazione Recontemporary ETS, with the participation of the artists.
On Saturday, November 1, on the occasion of Notte delle Arti Contemporanee, the event will continue at Ramo d’Oro, where, for the finissage of Studio Nucleo’s exhibition, a collective party will take place, featuring a line-up of artists performing as DJs from 8:00 pm to midnight. Among the organizers of the collective party Boing Boom Tschack — an expression of a shared network with local associations and cultural actors — is also the MAO Museo d’Arte Orientale, which on the same evening presents Declinazioni contemporanee #3.
The initiative will conclude on Sunday, November 2, with a breakfast at Associazione Barriera from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
