I remember. Immortal Digitals — Officine Sintetiche

18/11/2025

I remember. Digital Immortals is an open documentary in VR 360° that combines photorealistic 3D graphics and video to explore the theme of post-mortem existence in the digital world.
The work was born from a production workshop held from September 17 to 25, 2025, involving 18 selected students from the University of Turin, the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts of Turin, and the Polytechnic University of Turin. Through a process of collective research and creation, the participants explored how the concepts of life, matter, and memory are constantly being rewritten in the era of artificial intelligence and data persistence.

From these investigations emerges a virtual environment that takes the form of a possible “algorithmic afterlife” — a suspended space where cloned identity fragments, giving rise to an ecosystem of autonomous traces and memories. The experience becomes a sensory and mental journey in which memories recombine, deform, and are continuously regenerated by artificial intelligence.

By leading us into this liminal zone — between presence and absence, between being and non-being — I remember. Digital Immortals invites us to linger in a space of uncertainty and to question: what shape do our identity and our memory take in the digital world when the physical body disappears?
