A CAPA CA S’ARAP — a short film by Ikigai
From 09/06/2020 to 02/07/2020
We have decided to reopen the doors of Recontemporary with an exhibition capable of telling from the head to the heart the journey that each of us has made in these long months to discover ourselves: A capa che s’arap, from the Neapolitan dialect “the head that opens” is a comparison, a war, the irremediable search for peace. The text is born from the dialogue between three friends and colleagues, Nicola, Fabio and Dario whose completely different ideas and personalities come together in a dry, direct and affectionately cheeky narration. Their voices mix, revealing at the same time fears and desires, the visceral need to feel human, to feel part of the world and to be aware of it. Opening your head then becomes a metaphor for becoming, for time that does not always flow linearly, for the memory of past moments of life, for being together, for the nostalgia of dancing and feeling close. A capa che s’arap is a wish to overcome the habit of always settling for the same things and the fear of looking at those parts of ourselves that we don’t like.
Opening: June 9th 6pm – 9pm, at Recontemporary, free admission
“There is a piece of me for everyone, there is a piece of me that is love and a lover, a friend, a confidant, a joker, a nice guy and a rascal. There is the drunk and the not. There is the asshole and the affectionate. Here, take, choose a piece, the one you prefer. But then give it back to me or I will never find myself again and I am tired of searching.”.
The video was born as an accompaniment to the text, starting from a research on images and photography that aims to match the flow of words and thoughts through light, color, smoke, glass and sound: an internal story that speaks out loud for a few seconds.
The use of the Neapolitan dialect comes from the collective work done with the performer, Alberto, a friend of theirs originally from Campania.

IKIGAI MEDIA was born in 2016, from an idea by Nicola Martini and Fabio Russo, both art directors with several years of experience in communication and advertising agencies. In its first three years, IKIGAI MEDIA was a collective of freelance creatives. This formula helped us create our current mission: to provide the services of an agency with the flexibility of a freelancer. In 2019, the collective became a company, an agency specialized in branding, art direction and videomaking.
